At ACG Coaching & Consulting, we are specialists in transforming the daily routine into an opportunity for success and personal satisfaction.

How to Motivate Yourself at Work Day by Day?

Motivating ourselves at work every day is the challenge we all face in our professional lives. This motivation is the result of a series of practices and perspectives that transform our work environment and our personal attitudes.

Creating a work environment that inspires and fosters a positive attitude is essential. This means personalizing your workspace, establishing healthy boundaries, and ensuring that there is a work-life balance. In addition, setting clear and achievable goals provides a sense of direction and continued success.

The key to maintaining constant motivation is to remember that every task, no matter how small, has a significant impact. In addition, team motivation is important in the company, as it impacts the motivation of the other people who are part of this group.

What is the Importance of Motivation at Work?

Motivation in the workplace has profound implications for both employees and organizations. Likewise, a motivated team is synonymous with greater productivity and creativity. According to Gallup, only 15% of employees worldwide feel truly engaged in their work. Improving this aspect can lead to significant innovation and more effective solutions.

Motivation is also a critical factor in employee well-being; it improves job satisfaction and reduces employee turnover.

Strategies for Professional Advancement

Strategies for career advancement

In today's changing employment landscape, achieving a career advancement and salary increase represents more than a change in title: it's recognition of your contribution and a leap toward greater challenges.

This article breaks down the strategies that can position you for success and details how ACG Coaching & Consulting's Career Advancement program can be the catalyst for your professional transformation.

Why Apply for a Career Advancement?

A promotion is an opportunity to expand your skills, face stimulating challenges and gain greater autonomy in your work. It is proof that your dedication and expertise have been noticed and valued. With each new level achieved, your ability to impact the company and its culture grows exponentially, which in turn can increase your job satisfaction and sense of accomplishment.

Why is it Important to Get a Salary Increase?

A salary increase is not only a recognition of your current contribution, but also an investment in your motivation and future development. Here are some reasons why requesting a raise is a prudent and justified action:

  • Accumulated experience: As you grow in your role, you gain skills and experience that increase your value to the company.
  • Increased responsibilities: If your responsibilities have increased without corresponding compensation, it is reasonable to request a salary adjustment.
  • Inflation and cost of living: Over time, the cost of living increases due to inflation. An increase may be necessary simply to maintain your current purchasing power.
  • Competitive market: If the salary for your role has increased in the market and your current compensation does not reflect those changes, an adjustment may be warranted.
  • Exceptional performance: Outstanding performance is one of the strongest reasons to request a raise, especially if you have contributed significantly to the company's success.
Achieve a salary increase

A salary that reflects your true value to the company can mean:

  • An Improved Lifestyle: The ability to enjoy a better lifestyle is a powerful incentive.
  • Reinvestment in Personal Development: A higher salary allows you to invest in your personal and professional growth.
  • Recognition of your Unique Contribution: Each professional brings a distinct set of skills and perspectives. An adjusted salary recognizes this uniqueness.

Steps to Follow to Get a Salary Increase

Now that you are clear on the reasons, it's time to establish a plan of action. Request a meeting with your boss or human resources department to discuss your compensation. Follow these steps to maximize your chances of success in negotiating a raise:

  1. Personal assessment: Conduct an honest self-analysis of your performance, accomplishments and the current job market situation for your position.
  2. Market research: Research what is paid in your industry for your position and experience. Tools such as salary surveys and specialized websites can give you a benchmark.
  3. Document your value: Collect evidence of your accomplishments, additional responsibilities you have taken on, accolades from customers or colleagues, and any key metrics that demonstrate your contribution to the company's success.
  4. Timing: Choose the right time for the request, preferably after successful completion of a major project or during annual performance reviews.
  5. Prepare your proposal: Write a clear and concise proposal detailing your reasons for the increase, supported by the documentation you have collected.
  6. Professional negotiation: During the meeting, present your case in a professional manner. Maintain a conversational tone that invites dialogue, not confrontation.

Acceptology: Science-based reflections for inner peace

landscape representing inner peace, well-being

In this post I would like to share some reflections to accompany you in accepting difficult situations in your life, avoiding suffering and living with wellbeing and inner peace. The content of this post is based on concepts from the science that frees you from suffering: Acceptology. This was the pedagogical project promoted by the Colombian philosopher, Gerardo Schmedling.

Science is based on observation and experimentation with the aim of discovering laws by which they are governed. It employs hypotheses and theories that may be misleading in their assessment, but not in their outcome. That is why Gerard considered Acceptology as a science, because when a person cannot accept something and struggles to change it, it always gives the same result of inner conflict and suffering.

The external reality never changes, because its existence obeys the correspondence with the interior of the individual who lives it. Only when the interior changes, it generates a new reality for him. This is the scientific reality, when we stop struggling to change the external reality, when we accept reality as it is, we are ready to live a new reality because the previous one can teach us nothing more. He who succeeds in accepting his present reality needs nothing more. The universe is efficient, and no one will be subjected to an examination or test that he has already passed or already knows.

In this line we can understand that struggling to impose one's will, ideals, to change others and the course of life so that external events accommodate one's individual preferences, is a waste of time and an endless source of suffering. It is clear that one has to go after one's dreams and goals. However, it is one thing to do so smoothly and following the direction of the wind, and another to do so obsessively and against the current.

When I can understand that the general collective wisdom rules and decides independently of my will. Then I can accept that I am under its command. Trusting that everything that happens is perfect, necessary and fulfils a purpose of love, even if it is not necessarily an act of love or good love. This understanding allows me to enjoy all that is there for me, giving up my own expectations to follow the established collective unfolding.

Another fundamental idea is to understand that everything that generates conflict, struggle, wear and tear, suffering, discomfort, that which does not give me good results, that which feeds the ego, that which takes away my inner peace and makes me ill, does not belong to me. I must learn to let go of it, to align myself with the unfolding of life, its will and to live what is right for me. To renounce changing others and everything that does not depend on me, to suffer and to act on what I must do and what depends on me.

I must understand that I alone cannot and do not know what is best for me, so I must trust the collective will and even give up free will to be guided by it.

Peace is the result of the integration of opposing conflicts and the renunciation of what does not belong to me or does not depend on me. Once I have become desensitised, i.e. I can see reality with neutrality, I can observe when my inner self is disturbed without it being noticed externally, and transform my angry reactions into a kind response, respecting each person's process. Peace is more valuable than anything else, it raises your vital energy, it is synonymous with health and allows you to access the higher states of consciousness of the human being. With training you can move from temporary peace to permanent peace.

The Promised Land is a state of mind where I have already succeeded in freeing myself from the bondage of ignorance, where I no longer allow external situations to affect me and recognise the falsity of the principles of thoughts that bring suffering and pain. I have faith and absolute certainty that positive and loving thoughts will happen, and I think only the best by imagining things that bring me inner peace.

TAKE ACTION

If you take just one of these reflections, you will notice an improvement in your inner peace. Imagine all the wellbeing you can experience when you apply them all at once.

  • Make a list of everything that generates suffering in your life and identify what you are not accepting. Once identified, stop fighting and wanting to change it and accept it within yourself or work on changing your inner perception.
  • Renounce complaining, suffering, fear, criticism, judgement, comparison and airy reaction.
  • Renounce any expression that is not of love. Say nothing unless it is true, necessary and kind. Change the station, like a radio, from thoughts of fear to thoughts that bring peace and wellbeing.
  • Give up control of your life in order to place yourself under the will of life.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or if you want to go deeper into any of these points.

Please share the post if you found it interesting, so the contents can reach more people, and more people will have a life full of wellbeing and inner peace.

Thank you very much.

Sow these seeds and live in full abundance.

In this post I would like to give you 10 mental frameworks, 10 "seed ideas" that if you apply them will radically transform your life, and you will be able to live a life with fullness and abundance. The content of this post is based on the "40 Day Plan for Abundant Living" by Sergio Fernandez.

1. Love

Note that we can always act from two premises: love or fear. If we act from love, our focus is in the direction of what we want, while if we act from fear, our focus is on what we do NOT want, on what we want to run away from or avoid. The human mind, the energy, as studies show, expands what it focuses on. So I recommend that you pay attention to your focus, and act from love whenever you can.

2. Talent

Express your gift, your talent and live your purpose. Dedicating yourself to what you love is statistically proven to generate more economic abundance. In this post I explain how to discover and live your strengths. And in this one, I explain how to discover your ikigai and live a life with meaning and wellbeing.

3. Neutrality

Live without judgement, complaint, blame, criticism or airy reaction. Negative emotions block abundance. Everything that happens is neutral, become aware of your emotions and desensitise yourself by living from neutrality.

4. Give

First give then receive. Life tends to balance. So you can try to generate slight imbalances in your favour.

5. Flow

Live without sacrifice, overexertion or struggle. Live with faith and trust. Nature is effortless. It is proven that we get results after 10,000 hours of work. Give up everything that, no matter how hard you try, does not work and does not give you good results.

6. Detachment

Giving without expecting to receive, without expecting results. Forcing things, or wishing too intensely for something generates rejection. Demanding from the future does not bring results. It is better to have faith and trust. What is for us and what is right for us, will come to us at the right time.

7. Gratitude

Learn to live happily and gratefully in the present. Be thankful for the results you have today, value what you have and live in gratitude.

8. Order

Life follows an order: it decides and you have free will. Either you accept its will, or you can fight to impose your own. In the end, life always has its way. That doesn't mean that you can't ask her or try to achieve all your dreams or goals in a detached way. She will answer you if they correspond to you because they are also hers or not.

9. Value

Abundance is a consequence of the value we bring to others. If we want to be more abundant we must give more value to more people. To do this we can use our values. Here in this post I explain how to discover and live your values.

10. Transformation

Detect the limiting beliefs that hold you back in your life and see what conscious or unconscious benefits you get from not being abundant.

Take action

If you integrate just one of these ideas, you will notice an improvement in your abundance. Imagine all the fullness and abundance you can experience when you apply and cultivate these 10 seeds all at once.

Work through each of these ideas point by point and create your own action plan to live the abundant life you deserve.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or if you want to go deeper into any of these points.

Please share the post if you found it interesting, so the content can reach more people and more people will have a more abundant life.

Thank you very much.

Graduate your perception and live in total well-being.

The information captured by our sensory senses is filtered and processed by our unconscious mind, based on our beliefs, values, past experiences and all the programming we have been acquiring since our childhood: through family, education, society, TV, etc.

In other words, our perception of reality is conditioned by who we are, by our previous experiences, by our way of thinking and by our level of consciousness. From these lines we can realise that in the end perception is a subjective process and not as objective as we might initially think. It does not depend so much on others, or on external circumstances, but rather on our internal programming. We speak in general about perception, but here we can see that, after all this unconscious filtering, in the end what we really do is a subjective personal interpretation.

process of perception through the filtering of reality

As I mentioned in the previous post, which I invite you to read if you haven't already done so, nothing external to us has the power to bother us. For example, nothing that happens to us, nothing that anyone could do or say can make us suffer without our permission. It is our programming, our ideas, our inner beliefs or our mind that decides to give it the power. In short, it is the interpretation of our thoughts that generates our discomfort. We are well and happy by nature at a deep level. So if you don't feel good inside, it is very likely that you are not interpreting well, what is happening around you.

The 9 mental frameworks

In this post I would like to give you 9 mental frameworks, 9 "vitamin ideas" that if you apply them can help you to refine and graduate your perception to live with well-being and fulfilment. The content of this post is based on concepts from NLP and from the book "Holy Ideas of the Enneagram" by Nekane Adrién.

1. Perfection

Who wouldn't like to be the scriptwriter of life, and change things according to one's own idea of individual perfection, based on one's own beliefs, whims or illusory assessments. This vitamin helps us to respect, trust, flow with life's decisions and feel at peace. This idea helps us to maintain a sense of appropriateness to the way things are. Assenting that everything that happens is right, perfect and as it should be on a collective level.

2. Will

This idea helps us to stop imposing our own will to flow with the collective will of life, and to accept what life wants us to learn, accept and experience.

3. Hope

This vitamin invites us to let go of the obsession with effort, sacrifice, struggle and continuous action, based on doing for others to prove our worth, and to achieve individual success. The idea is to experience the fullness and harmony of our own nature, to maintain a deep contact with ourselves, attending to our own needs, to be what the Universe wants us to be. To have a sense of optimism, openness, confidence, harmonious flow and hope with the unfolding of life and to renounce everything that does not work for us, makes us suffer and generates discomfort.

4. Originality

This is an invitation to let go of comparisons, to value an idealised external image of who we would like to be in order to look compassionately inwards, at where we come from and who we really are, to value ourselves, and to see that there is nothing flawed or lacking in us.

5. Omniscence

This framework refers to letting go of the need to accumulate knowledge from a mental point of view, because in order to know the totality of experience we must focus on exploring our inner wisdom. Understanding that we cannot know everything and that the knowledge we need comes from our inner knowing, from the connection with our heart when we have a calm mind, with an empty centre and presence.

6. Faith and strength

This idea invites us on the one hand to let go of our fear, mistrust, impatience, reaction and insecurity when making decisions or that we have in ourselves, and to stop projecting it onto others. On the other hand, it invites us to connect with our inner wisdom, courage, confidence and faith. The mind no longer governs our decisions, but we rely more on the information that comes from our heart. We can trust ourselves, our impulses, our desires, our actions and our capacity for self-regulation. We have all the resources to face life's challenges. The world is a safe place where we can be ourselves and fulfil ourselves. Life sustains us, we can rest, relax, stop being on constant alert and connect with the strength and whole nature of our BEING.

7. Wisdom

This idea invites us to stop living from illusory mental ideas and learn to live from the reality of our inner experience in the presence of the now. This is what will bring us into alignment with the unfolding of life. To stop avoiding the present with constant planning towards the future, and to be able to surrender to the present by accepting pain and one's own life circumstances. Understanding that it is not only our planning that can change our lives, but that it is already unfolding by itself. Connecting from the present with our inner wisdom and heart is what will show us the next step.

8. Unit

This idea refers to the fact that by default we perceive that we are all separate: we see a dual, polarised world, where there is good and bad, dark and light. We feel separate and with an undefined guilt, as if something is wrong with us that weakens us, that can awaken a feeling of revenge and act aggressively. This vitamin helps us to accept all that happens, all that is, without judgement, neither good nor bad, with equanimity and neutrality without victimhood or blame. If we let things simply be as they are, we dissolve the illusion of duality and struggle.

9. Love

This vitamin helps us to let go of the false idea that we are unloved, unimportant or unworthy of love, and that we must therefore strive, sacrifice or struggle to be loved. This vitamin helps us to connect with the feeling of oneness with gratitude and positivity to experience the unconditional love that we already are in reality from our BEING.

Take action

If you take just one of these vitamin ideas, you will notice an improvement in your well-being and peace of mind. Imagine all the fulfilment and well-being you can experience when you apply all 9 ideas at once. So I invite you to integrate all this, take action and reinterpret your life from your new, fully graduated perception.

Share your impressions, what do you think of seeing life like this?

Free yourself from your attachments and stop suffering

In this post I will integrate some reflections on attachment and emotional dependency that the Indian psychotherapist and writer Anthony de Mello explained in his seminars and wrote about throughout his works. I have also added an outline of the systematic view of the German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger by organising and structuring it with my own personal touch. I have also added an action plan to include some simple guidelines that will allow you to detect and free yourself, once and for all, from all of your attachments.

Anthony, like many other authors of personal development, states that nothing external to us has the power to upset us, nothing that does or says A or B to us can make us suffer without our permission. It is our programming, ideas, inner beliefs and mind that decides to give it the power. In short, it is our thoughts that generate our discomfort . We are well and happy by nature. Everything that happens to us is fine, reality is neutral and should not make us suffer. However, automatically - with the interpretation of our perception, according to our conscious and unconscious programming, we are the ones who choose the colour with which we paint our reality. How liberating! - or is it a nightmare? The truth is that we often choose black by default, without realising it. We are diamonds that look like stones and in general, we do nothing to change it.

Our experience in this life is approximately 10% what happens to us and 90% what we do with it. And whilst we cannot control the 10%, the 90%, which is the major part, depends on us and is our responsibility. This is where we can prioritise our centre point and focus on internal and external factors. This idea is reflected in Victor Frankl’s book “Man’s search for Meaning” where this Austrian author and psychiatrist relates his experiences of his time at Auschwitz concentration camp during the second world war. One of his reflections is the human capacity to transcend difficulties and decide “freely” how to act according to what orientates us and gives meaning to our lives.

True happiness is uncaused and unconditional. Although you might have a strong perception that you must have something or someone in your life to obtain true happiness - be it a partner, money, work, success, a family of your own, to be liked - the list is endless, consider, young children, who are happy simply to be playing. It is time to realise that you have been programmed by society, the media, social networks, conditioned to believe that without these trappings you will never be happy. These external factors have the power to chain you to these limiting beliefs and thoughts and you will never be free, as you will most likely suffer from fear, stress and anxiety trying to achieve it and then when you have it, fighting to keep hold of it.

In other words, one of the major causes of suffering is attachment. Attachment, the dependence on or identification with a person, job, status or emotion. A belief that without them I can not feel happy. Although we have been trained to be emotionally dependent, true love is free of dependencies and attachments. We have also been culturally programmed to get angry or upset with people when they don’t act the way we want them to or when things don’t happen according to our wishes. Note this unconscious belief that if we become upset or angry, the other person, or the situation will change. Take this example: someone upsets us, we react by blaming them, we get upset, then angry, our blood pressure rises, our cortisol shoots up, meanwhile our energy is reducing, as is our perception and we lose inner peace. There are so many times that we act in this way, without doing anything to really change it. Does this seem logical or reasonable to you? Remember that nothing or nobody in this world has the power to make you angry or upset. It’s all done to you through your mind, your programming. Don’t blame yourself, now that you understand what’s going on, be aware of it from now on, understand it and change it. Being mature is not blaming anyone for your problems. Instead, become aware, observe what is there and without blame, take action and solve it. By doing this you will be free and you will have more energy available because you will not have wasted it emotionally, by fighting external factors. Unfortunately, the majority of the population still acts immaturely.

It is not that now we have to isolate ourselves, stop having desires, or live like a vegetable or simply do nothing. It is that we do our best to achieve our goals without getting attached, i.e. if it happens, fine, but if it doesn't happen, we will be happy just the same. We don't react to it, we stay neutral, our inner state doesn't depend on it and we don't identify with it. We can let go of the goals and let them go. The most important thing is to prioritise ourselves, and to realise that we ourselves are more important than this goal or desire. This mindset allows us to maintain our confidence and security, as we are not at the mercy of anything or anyone. If we do not achieve a goal, or things do not go our way, it is another opportunity to improve, to better ourselves, to continue to grow, and to become more aware. True power is not opposing anything. True happiness is not being euphoric all the time, or that everything goes wonderfully well and goes according to our wishes. True happiness is that even if life hurts or makes me happy, to agree, to accept what you can't change and say yes to it.

We do not see the world as it is, but as we really are because of the Law of the Mirror. We want to change others, to change the world, when in reality we are here to understand, accept and act from the yes to what is, the yes to what happens and to align ourselves with life itself, even though it is often very complicated. To understand that we are not alone, that many desires and situations that happen to us do not only depend on us, our destiny is not individual but collective. Our desired future is always at the expense of the emerging future, and that everything is affected by the collective consciousness and by the systemic consciousness, i.e. by everything that our ancestors lived through, as epigenetics demonstrates.

"First I had depression, now I still have the same depression, but the difference is that now I don't care about it".

Zen proverb

TAKE ACTION. PRACTICE DETACHMENT.

  1. Make a list of all the external factors that are currently causing you discomfort in your team, your job or your life.
  2. Question them one by one. Is it true? Is it the external factor or is it my thoughts about it that make me feel bad? Am I acting mature? Could I feel good without it? Are there people who don't have it either and are happy? Could I treat myself/talk to myself well without it, without that person, without those thoughts, etc?
  3. If there are still elements that you think you need, that you still depend on, think about what transformation you need. What do you need to model, to change, who should you become in order to live without them? What is in your hand and what actions can you take? How can I accept this situation? Am I prioritising myself?
  4. If you still find something, directly experience letting go of those thoughts, focusing your attention on your breathing and the focus on feeling inner emotional wellbeing. If you feel better now, congratulations and if not, congratulations too. Congratulations on taking responsibility and taking action.

Please tell me about your experience. Share your impressions, if there is anything you think you are still attached to as well as your learnings and transformations you have made from this post. Please share if you found it interesting, so the content can reach more people and more people will stop suffering. Thank you very much.

Discover and live your strengths

The origin of the word "strength" comes from the Latin word "fortis" which means strong. Personal strengths are understood as the set of skills, characteristics or psychological or attitudinal aspects in which we excel and which represent some kind of virtue or adaptive advantage. They energise us and make us feel strong.

For a characteristic to be considerable as a personal strength it must be cross-culturally recognisable as something positive and desirable, valued for its own sake and not just for its results. They are often linked to virtually universal values and can even be related to virtues.

What is important is that, like values, they contribute to generating and maintaining personal satisfaction and well-being.

"We are all geniuses, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb trees, you will think it is useless. -Albert Einstein

Myths and truths

Here are three myths and three truths to reflect on strengths and weaknesses.

  • As you get older your personality changes.
  • You can develop more in areas related to your weaknesses.
  • A good team member does whatever it takes to help his or her team.

Were the first three sentences truths or myths? And what about these?

  • As you grow, you develop and become more of who you already are.
  • The areas in which you can develop yourself the most are related to your strengths.
  • A good team member deliberately offers his or her strengths in the service of the team.

Strengths tests

I recommend 2 tests that allow you to quickly identify your strengths online. Moreover, due to the current situation, these tests can be taken free of charge. One is the DISC and the other is the StandOut. Here I explain them briefly:

DISC: The DISC test is an assessment that measures people's behaviour and emotions in terms of four dimensions of personality. It is based on the work of psychologist William Marston, and is named after its acronym:

Dominance, Influence, Stability and Compliance .

Dominance: Measures how the person responds to problems and challenges. Action-oriented behaviour, quick problem solving, decision making and risk taking.

Influence: Measures how you relate to and influence other people. People-oriented behaviour, interaction, interpersonal relationships.

eStability: Measures how you respond to changes and the pace of the environment. Behaviour aimed at maintaining balance, harmony and the status quo in a secure environment.

Compliance: Measures how you respond to the rules and procedures established by others. Behaviours oriented to the investigation of data and information, to the quality of one's own and others' performance.

There are no better or worse results, it is a matter of identifying your strengths and orienting yourself professionally in that direction. For each profile, it will be easier to work in a job with similar characteristics and very difficult to work in a role that requires characteristics of the opposite profile. Not because you can't do it, but because it will generate stress in the long run. We all have our nature, the more we are aligned with it, the better the results will be and the better we will feel.

Currently this test can be taken free of charge online (in English) from the Tonny Robbins website and on this website in Spanish.

STAND OUT:

This test obtains, through a questionnaire, by analysing your impulsive and instinctive responses, your natural tendency towards two of the 9 roles. We all use the 9 new roles and there are no better or worse ones, there are simply two that we carry in our DNA, they energise us and we are naturally better at them. Stand Out is a predictor of job performance, and is very useful to guide you in your career and help you thrive.

The 9 StandOut roles

StandOut offers practical advice on how to maximise your strengths, from your 2 dominant roles, including:

  • Your ideal profession
  • How you can make an immediate impact and take your performance to the next level
  • How you can succeed as a leader, manager, in sales or as an individual contributor.

Currently this test, whose report is about 17 pages long, can be taken free of charge online, in all languages, from the website of one of its creators Marcus Buckingham.

Here is an example where you can see the roles of strengths in order of importance:

If you have any questions about these tests, or would like to arrange a session to review the results, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Live your strengths

Now that you have identified your strengths, the next step is for you to reflect and take action:

  • From 1-10, to what extent are you using your strengths on a day-to-day basis in your life?
  • What is it that you are doing in your life that weakens you, that does not motivate you?
  • Can you delegate it, stop doing it and invest this time to use your strengths more?
  • Where and how can you use your strengths the most?

Strengths are like values, they point you in the direction of your success and well-being. So the more aligned you are with them, the better your results will be.

In conclusion, develop, train and improve skills related to your strengths. Use them frequently, daily if possible. Discuss and share them with the people around you. Integrate them and become aware of this difference, with which you make a difference.

Currently, according to studies, only 2 out of 10 people use their strengths every day. Be one of them.
